"The Red Market" Actor: Andy White

Creating a production atmosphere where everyone’s perspectives are valued

William Andrew White was born in Beaumont, Texas, and grew up in nearby Lumberton. He discovered his passion for acting at an early age, making his stage debut with the Beaumont Community Players. Throughout high school, he continued to perform in productions with the Beaumont Community Players, Beaumont Civic Opera, and his high school theater department, often starring in multiple shows simultaneously.

In college, William honed his craft for the screen, studying the Meisner Method and Charles Conrad's techniques under Babs George at the State Theatre Company in Austin, Texas. He appeared in over a dozen films, collaborating with talented directors from the Austin filmmaking community. Seeking to expand his knowledge of the production process, he earned a B.A. in Radio-Television-Film Production from the University of North Texas in Denton.

William currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California and is a member of SAG-AFTRA.

"As a gay man, I’m honored to have been part of "The Red Market," a film shaped by a richly diverse cast and crew, all working together seamlessly. We aimed to create an atmosphere where everyone’s perspectives were genuinely valued, and collaboration was at the forefront.

The film’s process - and message - revolves around the idea that we all contribute to a shared human experience, transcending labels or divisions. One of the great aspects of working with this team was that all ideas were welcomed and given serious, thoughtful consideration, allowing creativity to flourish and ensuring that every voice added depth to the story we told."

In “The Red Market,” Zephyr Sage, burdened by overwhelming debt, turns to the Global Organ Donor Exchange, a decision that plunges him into a perilous world dominated by ruthless creditors and a shrewd loan shark named Hyacinth. As Zephyr struggles to survive, he faces choices that could cost more than just money, drawing him deeper into a dark, dystopian reality.

Penned and directed by Christopher Matthew Spencer, the short film began as an acting exercise at the Brian Cutler Actors Studio in Burbank, California. The captivating student performances sparked an idea to expand it into a full production, in collaboration with current students and alumni from Dodge College at Chapman University. Filmed on the state-of-the-art Sony Venice camera system, the project was a joint effort between the Chapman crew and studio members.

Spencer's vision for the film's world took inspiration from the vivid, otherworldly color palettes often seen in Tim Burton’s work, aiming for a bold portrayal of a dystopian future.

Produced under a SAG-AFTRA contract, "The Red Market" marked a milestone for many actors, granting them their first eligibility with the union.
